Lots going on tonight so let’s get stuck into it.
**Men’s Slope Style Snow Boarding
Scotty James competed in the semi – finals today and was not successful to make it to the finals of the snow slope-style for men. His first run can in at 77.25 and his second run was 19.00. James came unstuck at the top of the run and did what he needed to safely finish. He finished up in 8th spot in the semi finals and was 16th over all. He is happy with his performance but his pet event is the half – pipe. The first medals of the games go to: 1) USA – Sage Kotsenburg – (93.50), 2) Norway – Staale Sandbech – (91.75), 3) Canada – Mark McMorris – (88.75)
**Ladies Moguls –
It’s a new format this year as the top 20 ladies, will make a run to scale down to the top 12, from there the top 6 will go into the medal round.
The Aussie trio of Britt Cox, Nicole Parks and Taylah O’Neill were on the mountain in action had an awesome day with all the ladies finishing in the top 20. Britt was the best of the Aussies with a 5th place finish with a time of 19.43 (64.26%) , Nicole Parks finished her day in 15th and Taylah in 16th.
**Men’s Speed Skating — 5,000 Meters
We had no Aussie in this event, Netherlands took all three medals.
**Figure Skating Team Event
Ice Dancing Short Program — The Aussies do not have a team in this event but we do have individuals skating in other figures skating events.
**Luge – Men’s Single
Our first rider is Alexander Ferlazzo from Townsville – His first ride comes in at 53.528, which has him in 29th place. Alex’s second run is 53.686 for a total of 1.47.214
Tonga has their very first competitor in the Winter Games, Bruno Banani – 56.656 for his first run.
